On 17 February, the Directors General of the Equatorial Guinea Telecommunications Company (GETESA) and MUNI Telecom, Costantino Obiang Mba and Oumar Bonkoungou, respectively, signed an agreement which aims to improve telephone and Internet services in Equatorial Guinea. Through the interconnection of an optical fibre network, there will be a reduction in rates of around 60%, as well as increased access to 3G and 4G high-speed services.
The Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Equatorial Guinea (ORTEL), Hermogenes Nzang Esono, said that this initiative will be rolled out over time, and will lead to greatly-improved outcomes for the people of Equatorial Guinea.
