Minister for Mines attends Germany Africa Business Forum

On 23rd March, the head of Mines and Hydrocarbons from the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, Gabriel Mbega Obiang Lima, attended the Germany Africa Business Forum, held in the German city of Berlin.

25/03/2017

Many African authorities were present  in Berlin, to take part in this important event; all of them intending to attract German investment to their respective countries. The event featured the figure of Thomas Boni Yayi, ex-president of the Republic of Benin, who, in addition to presenting the huge opportunity for German investment on the African continent, also gave a special mention in his speech to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea and its Minister for Mines and Hydrocarbons, praising the great work which is being carried out, both in the sector, and in its desire to attract investors to other sectors in the Equatoguinean economy.

For his part, Gabriel Mbega Obiang Lima, in his speech, pointed out to those present the great opportunities in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea because, in the last twenty years, it has been the perfect model for foreign investment. Protected by special legislation, mineral, petroleum, agricultural and livestock resources in full growth, in addition to many other sectors which are still to be explored and developed, the Republic of Equatorial Guinea can provide the world with a guarantee of economic growth, an opportunity for the German entrepreneur.

These days, German investment in Africa is around 60,000 million dollars annually, against the 200,000 million dollars invested by the People’s Republic of China, and this figure is expected to double by the end of the decade. For that reason, in the words of the minister, this is the right moment, the perfect opportunity for Germany to take a step forward and invest in Africa. Equatorial Guinea, due to its strategic location, its large gas projects in development, blocks which are free of exploration, etc. opens the doors to all German investors.

Along the same lines, the minister presented all the projects currently being executed in the hydrocarbons and gas sector, and welcomed all German companies to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.

Equatorial Guinea continues on path towards economic emergence in 2020

The Republic of Equatorial Guinea is moving towards emergence, programmed in the Plan Horizonte 2020, despite the economic crisis caused by factors regulating the price of raw materials.

148408810411/01/2017

The commitment to make Equatorial Guinea an emerging country for 2020 continues to be one of the priorities of the Government run by H. E. Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, despite the fall in the price of oil, the main source of the country’s income.

The Plan Horizonte 2020, outlined by the Head of State, and on which work is currently being done to “create the definitive structure” which will make up a “national economic system to take part in the international economy”, began several years ago, with the construction of social housing throughout the country which, today, remains a reality.

The economic growth that our country has experienced for eight years has been decisive, and the adequate use of resources by the Executive has allowed the construction of thousands of social residences in provincial and district capitals, in addition to the new urban districts.

Since the announcement of Plan Horizonte 2020, the general budgets have dedicated a greater part to the social sector, including the infrastructure for a road network covering the entire nations, and its corresponding electrification.

Furthermore, the money from oil has permitted the construction and fitting of secondary educational institutes in all areas of the nation.

This is the moment when the President of the Republic is asking for “the commitment, dedication, and determination of the people of Equatorial Guinea” in order to execute the phase of “preparation and empowerment of the private sector as the key engine for development”.

Equatorial Guinea has the highest literacy rate in Central Africa, at 78.5 %.
