An evening reception to welcome Equatorial Guinea secondees currently working on Ophir’s EG Gas Project (Fortuna FLNG) was celebrated in London on Wednesday, 3rd of March 2016 at Park Plaza Victoria.

Hosted by Ophir and the Embassy of Equatorial Guinea, the reception brought together 13 Equatoguinean GEPetrol and Sonagas secondees and around the same number of Ophir and Worley Parson’s (Ophir’s engineering contractor) personnel. The objective of the course being completed by the secondees is to meet local content requirements and obtain an overview of the project.

Ambassador Mrs Mari-Cruz Evuna Andeme delivered a welcome speech detailing how important such exchanges are towards collaboration and commercial agreements between these companies. Focusing on the importance of their assignment in the UK, Ambassador Evuna encouraged the secondees by saying: “Remember where we come from, what our society is like, what life in our country is like and what we all know is needed to improve and grow as strong nation. Remember this and remember that Equatorial Guinea is counting on each and every one of you. All of you, so long as you’re willing to stay focused on your education and training in the UK.

This idea is absolutely crucial because in these times, Equatorial Guinea is in real need of a capable and educated human work force; this programme therefore, is ever more indispensable.”

Also present at this event were Mr Domiciano Abeso, Head of GEPetrol London; Dr. Bill Higgs, Ophir’s CEO; Dr Oliver Quinn, Director of African Assets and Mr. Simon Smith, Ophir’s Asset Manager Equatorial Guinea.
