Equatorial Guinea launches ex-pat radio

expat_radio_rsA radio station for Equatorial Guinean expatriates, Asonga Radio, has been launched and can be listened to in 67 countries as far away as China and the US. The station can be accessed online at www.asonga.com and will broadcast Equatorial Guinean and African music, hip hop, pop, electronic, soul and reggaeton amongst other genres.

Emerson Reyes is the new director of Asonga Radio, whose team also consists of Miguel Ndemesogo (audiovisual producer), David Matias Ndong (artistic producer) and the radio presenters Pedro Nnang, Pilar Ebury, Mariano Nguema, Honorio Borico and Amanda Madiba.

Equatorial Guinea will host the next Gulf of Guinea summit

Malabo, Equatorial Guinea has been confirmed as the next host of the Summit of Heads of State of member countries of the Gulf of Guinea in August. The Minister of Regional Integration, Baltasar Engonga Edjo announced the news on Saturday. The Gulf member countries seek to strength maritime safety in the region, particularly by preventing pirate attacks.

President awarded for fight against poverty

The African Confederation of Non-Governmental Organisations, based in Ivory Coast, awarded President Obiang Nguema Mbasago for his fight against poverty at a reception held at the People’s Palace in Malabo.

The President of the African Confederation of NGOs, Lucien Tape Mambo, said that as well as the progress the country has made in social and economic development, the President had personally created several humanitarian organisations that address poverty in the region.
